I’ve been reading Make for a while now. It makes me want to get out there and hack everything, but I haven’t made much of anything. I’m ready to change that. I have some stuff lying around and want to convert a motorcycle into an electric. I just can’t get the idea out of my head and i’m going to try it. I’m short on knowledge but i’m ready to learn.

First of all, if any of you know a good place with information in this vein, please let me know. I don’t want to waste everyone’s time.

I’ve got big dreams for this project but at first, i just want something that shows that this can be done. I’ve got a forklift motor and some batteries. What else do i NEED to get this thing started? Aside from the bike, which i don’t have.

So, if any of you know a good way to get a cheap broken motorcycle, i’m all ears.

I will, down the road, want to understand everything from ac vs. dc motors to regenerative braking to what kind of controller would be the best solution for this situation. But i’m taking my experience (zero) and my drive (more than zero) and i’m going to learn on the way. This is not my usual method.
